News & updates
Welcome to our news page:
We hope to be able to keep all our students, past and present, up to date on all changes to first aid procedures and also notify any new legislation which may affect them.
The H.S.E. have introduced changes from 1st October 2009.
The main changes are that the First Aid at Work (FAW) 4 day course is to be reduced to 3 days, with annual update training to enable students to retain skills more easily.
Requalification course 2 day due when FAW certificate expires.
The Basic First Aid 1 day course is to become the Emergency First Aid at Work course (EFAW) with Basic Skills annual update each year.
All certificates will be valid for 3 years.
The HSE seem to be pushing Training Organisations toward the Ofqual route for approval and we do not want to go down that route because we believe it will increase costs which will have to be passed to our customers.
They have withdrawn approval for those Organisations who cannot hold 6 FAW courses in a year, regardless of how many EFAW courses have been held. Further information regarding this issue is available from the Federation of First Aid Training Organisations.
